Centurion Ri237 Named World Wake Surfing Championship Official Towboat

The World Wake Surfing Championship, celebrating its 20th anniversary, will be held in Parker, Arizona at the BlueWater Resort & Casino on September 24 through 26, 2015. Since its creation in 1995, Centurion Boats has been the main sponsor of the World Wake Surfing Championship and Centurion boats have held the coveted spot of Official Towboat. This year the official 2015 World Wake Surfing Championship (#WWSC15) presented by GM Marine Engine Technology towboat will be the all new 2016 Centurion Ri237. When testing the Ri237, prior to its release this past July, the Centurion Boats Engineering and Design team were convinced that this new boat had to showcase its dominant performance on wake surfing’s biggest stage. All divisions at the World Wake Surfing Championship will be pulled by the new Ri237. The 2015 WWSC presented by GM Marine will be webcast live on Saturday, September 26, 2015. Twenty years ago, the World Wake Surfing Championship (WWSC) began when members of the Centurion Boats marketing team took a boat called “The Wave” to San Diego’s Mission Bay to wake surf with a group of professional ocean surfers from the famous San Diego surfboard brand Rusty. Five pro riders and an amateur spent the morning trying to outdo each other. They declared a winner of the First “World Wake Surfing Championship” and from that day on, wake surfing has evolved into the overwhelming groundswell of participation that it possesses today. Twenty years later the WWSC remains as the preeminent, season-ending pinnacle event held in the fall each year where riders from every continent compete and are crowned World Champions! This year competitors will be shredding the waves behind the 2016 Centurion Ri237.

The Centurion Boats Engineering and Design Team includes athletes, industry partners, dealers and Fineline employees who all bring a variety of specific water sports expertise to the boat. When the team finished evaluating the 2016 Ri237 the response was overwhelmingly in favor of pulling the biggest wake surfing event of the year with this rigorously innovated World Championship Towboat. The amazing size and shape of the Ri waves were the number one reason it was chosen as the Official Towboat. A close second in this selection process was the versatility that the Ri offers in wave side, size and shape without compromising a rider’s performance. The ambitious design of the Ri also played a big role in this decision allowing us to put a uniquely styled Centurion boat on the water at our signature event. The inspired craftsmanship of the Ri237 is as evident from the dock as it is to the crew inside the boat. The 2016 Centurion Ri237 was the only choice for the 2015 World Wake Surfing Championship Official Towboat.

As the 23-foot 7-inch Official WWSC Towboat the new 2016 Ri237 is the next level in World Championship Towboat performance, design and craftsmanship. The Ri237 illustrates dominant performance with a newly designed Deep-v Hull pushed by GM Gen 5 direct injection power from PCM with C-Force. World Championship performance continues with the seamless integration of Centurion’s signature wake enhancement technology. The Centurion Articulating Tracking System (CATS) and the Asymmetric Wing fine-tune the shape of your wakes and waves with a touch. RAMFILL Ballast fills in 45 seconds to create huge walls of water, while QuickSurf Pro can move your surf wave from side to side in as little as 2 seconds behind a level boat. The Ri237’s form follows its function with an ambitiously designed exotic sports car exterior featuring a one-of-kind modified v-bow, uniquely shaped body lines and a stylized transom that is as handsome as it is hangout-ready. Luxury interior accommodation like a 3-position Slide Seat and patent pending Side by Side High Definition (SxS HD) Touch Vision technology make days on the water in this Centurion last even longer. Inspirational is the only way to describe the level of craftsmanship applied to the Ri237. From the resiliently soft Comfort Strong vinyl to the GORE® TENARA® Thread made by GORE-TEX® holding it in place to the artistically applied gel coat to the quiet unibody construction is all built on, the Centurion Ri237 is a new generation of World Championship Towboat.
