The Centurion Boats Factory Gets Back to Making Lives Better
We wake waves. Do you?
MERCED, CA (MAY 27, 2020) – More than two months ago Centurion Boats and other nonessential businesses across the globe were asked to shelter in place in light of the COVID19 pandemic. During this temporary shutdown only a handful of staff members remained at work, not to build and sell boats, but rather to show our thankfulness to the healthcare heroes on the front lines of this crisis. Our small crisis response team spent their time designing and building face shields and ear savers for local healthcare workers. In addition, Centurion Boats donated a house supply of N95 face masks to local facilities. These actions were the least we could do to show gratitude to our healthcare heroes.
After much preparation we are please to announce that we are building boats again. We have taken the utmost care with our plans for return. We are coming back in phases and observing social distancing. We are monitoring the health of our onsite employees daily with temperature screening, while providing the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) to each of them. We are also restricting outside visitors in an effort to keep our employees safe. So while that Centurion Factory Tour you had planned may have to be delayed, please know that we have implemented these restrictions for the safety of our employees. Stay in close contact with your local dealer for updates on factory tours.
We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to return to work safely, but we are most excited to return to our purpose. As a Correct Craft company, we are called to the path of ‘Making Life Better’ and we strive to exemplify that phrase at every opportunity. As we get back to what we love we want to wake waves of positive change in ourselves, our families, our communities, and our world with our boats on or near the water. These waves of positivity are not created out of thin air but they are set in motion, sometimes by the smallest efforts. These swells of change exist just below the surface and are available to all, but can only be unleashed through action.
It could be as simple and seemingly small as teaching your child to wake surf or showing your significant other how to trailer a boat. Your wave of change could be as monumental as sharing a day on the boat with a group of foster children or developmentally disabled individuals. Or as empowering as exposing individuals with limb loss to the world of wake surfing. Or as service oriented as treating service men and women, first responders and medical workers to a Blue Mind experience on the water. By being in a boat on the water we have the opportunity to awaken a better life for ourselves and others even with the smallest of actions. What’s Your Wave? How are you using your Centurion and/or Supreme Boat on, near, or relating to water to wake waves of positive change? We wake waves. Do you?
When asked why we say “wake” not “make”
We do not make waves of change; we wake swells of positivity from the depths of missed opportunities with deliberate action. Those actions could be as seemingly small as a drop of water falling on a glass calm lake or as giant as a seismic shift beneath the sea. No matter the size of the force, a Centurion wave of positive change can be set into motion with any thoughtful activity perpetuated through tow boating.
We wake waves encapsulates all of the amazingly big efforts our waters sports warriors like Grant Korgan, Matt Manzari, and Robby Maschhaupt have made through events such as Pass the Handle, Wake the World, Salute to Service, adaptive surfing, and much more. But this movement also shines a light on the seemingly small efforts of service on or relating to towboating like teaching your kids to surf or your wife to trailer the boat or simply spending time on the water with your family. Even the smallest service-related or empowerment action can wake a wave of positive change to make someone’s life better. We would love to understand your wave of change and recognize you as a Watersports Warrior. What’s your wave? Wake it!
Share your wave of change with us on social media using the hashtag #WeWakeWaves. Stay safe and wake waves of positive change!

Centurion Cheats: Understand Basic Wake Boat Features
Understanding these features can make a world of difference to newer boaters.
Centurion takes pride in offering the most adjustable waves and wakes on the water. There are a variety of different features on every Centurion model that allow you to set your wave or wake up for however you like to ride. With so much customization at your fingertips the learning curve can be somewhat intimidating for newer drivers, understanding how a few key features affect your wave and wake can make a world of difference on the water.
Ballast
Each boat is going to have a slightly different ballast configuration. Typically, for wakesurfing, you'll want to fill up all of the available ballast with the exception of the bow. If you have lots of people in the back of the boat, or just want to lengthen out your wave a bit more you might want to try adding some bow ballast. As you might already know, the RAMFILL tanks will fill and drain very quickly on the go (for more about RAMFILL click here). For that reason, you may want to drain 10% from the RAMFILL tank on the opposite side of the surfer to help clean up the wave. Some people will add extra ballast in the form of lead bags, this is optional but not necessary in Centurion models as you can get up to 5550 LBS of internal ballast stock from the factory.
Speed
People wakesurf at speeds anywhere from 9.5-16 mph, but 10.6-11.8 mph is pretty typical. Riding at a slower speed will make the wave taller, but will also shorten the wave in length bringing the surfer closer to the boat. Riding at a faster speed will make the wave longer and knock down the height. The more ballast your boat has, the faster you can surf while still having a powerful wave. If you are riding a wakeboard, 18-23mph is going to be your range for speed. The faster you go, the longer and cleaner the wake will become. If you are riding at a slower speed try making the rope a bit shorter.
The Stinger Wake Plate
The Stinger Wake Plate is the center trim tab on the back of your boat. When this plate is deployed it creates lift on the back end of the boat. This helps to reduce bow rise and helps get the boat up on plane. While you are riding, the Stinger Wake Plate is one of the most effective tools for tuning the wake or wave. 0% is the resting position for the Stinger Wake Plate. At the 0% setting the plate will be flush with the hull of the boat letting the back end of the hull displace the most water possible. 100% setting means the Stinger Wake Plate is fully deployed creating maximum lift on the back end of the boat. While wakesurfing, 0% setting will provide the steepest and most powerful wave. As you deploy the Stinger Wake Plate more and more the wave will become longer, flatter, and shorter in height. The Stinger Wake Plate can also be a good way to clean up the wave if it ever looks a bit washy. If you are wakeboarding the Stinger Wake Plate will have the same effect as if you were wakesurfing. 0% will make the steepest wake and adjusting towards 100% will flatten it out.
QuickSurf Pro
The QuickSurf Pro system utilizes the two tabs on the rear corners of your boat. This system is used only for wakesurfing. QuickSurf Pro allows you to wakesurf with an evenly weighted boat and enables you to switch the wave from one side to the other in 1.8 seconds. When you click the “surf right” option, the tab on the port side of the boat will deploy creating a clean surf wave on the starboard side. When either tab is deployed, it pushes the opposite side of the hull deeper into the water to maximize the wave while also blocking the whitewash from the non-surf side. If you still weight your boat with a lean to the surf side, you won’t need to use as much QuickSurf compared to a boat that is weighted totally evenly. If you weight your boat evenly you normally want to set QuickSurf Pro to around 85% on both sides. A higher % setting on the QuickSurf should make the wave very clean and flatten it out a bit. A lower % setting on the QuickSurf would result in a steeper wave that might be a little messy depending on your ballast configuration. If you are using your QuickSurf Pro to transfer back and forth from one side to the other, an even ballast set up is recommended.
QuickLaunch
Quicklaunch is a useful feature to help get the boat up on plane when it is full of ballast. When you turn on Quicklaunch, all 3 tabs including the Stinger Wake Plate and both Quicksurf Pro tabs will deploy creating maximum lift on the back end of the boat to get you up on plane more easily. Once the boat planes off all 3 tabs will return to their previous settings automatically. Quicklaunch can be left on at all times when wakeboarding.
CATS
CATS is an acronym for Centurion Articulating Tracking System. The CATS is essentially an extra rudder that locks in on a setting. This feature allows for small corrections in the way the boat tracks through the water. CATS can be extremely helpful for wakeboarding or wakeskating. If you are wakeboarding and the wake is washed out on one side, you can fix that with the CATS without moving a single person around in the boat. If you need to clean up the port side of the wake, adjust the CATS into the positive numbers until the wake has cleaned up. To clean up the starboard side of the wake, adjust the CATS into the negative numbers.

Centurion Boats Add Nick Parros to Pro Team
Another world class surfer hops onto the world’s best wave.
Brighton, Michigan (March 11, 2020) – The Centurion Boats pro wakesurf team is pleased to announce the addition of Nick Parros. The Michigan native has been involved in watersports for most of his life and over the past several years Nick has become a rising star in the pro wakesurf scene. Nick's family got their first wake boat when he was ten and he was instantly hooked on wakeboarding. After a few years Nick began to see people wakesurfing and it didn’t take long before he fell in love with the sport.
In 2017 Nick had an unprecedented undefeated season in the Amateur Men’s Skim division capping it off with a first-place finish at Worlds. In 2018 Nick made the move from Amateur to Outlaw as he started competing against semi-pros. After a successful 2018 season competing in Outlaw Men’s Skim he took home 3rd at Worlds. Last season Nick made another competitive jump and started riding pro, ultimately finishing the season with a 2nd place finish at worlds. Nick’s meteoric rise in the competitive wake surf scene and his exceptional character displayed along the way have forged him into a perfect new addition to the Centurion team.
Nick loves both the sport and the community. When asked about his love of the sport Nick commented, “My favorite trick changes almost weekly. I love the feeling of landing new tricks! Through wakesurfing I have met many people and families that have become my best friends.”
Amy Mauzy, VP of Marketing at Centurion Boats, has this to say, "We couldn't be more excited to add Nick to our pro team. Obviously he's an incredible talent, but more than that he's an incredible person. Nick's strong character and values make him a perfect addition to the Centurion Boats family, we know that this new partnership will help continue to build on Centurion’s reputation throughout the following season and into the future,”

Centurion Boats Win WSIA Innovation Award for Opti-V Hull and QuickLaunch
Centurion continues to lead the way in industry innovation
SQUAW CREEK, CA (February 27, 2020) – Last night, Centurion Boats was awarded a Watersports Innovation Award by the Water Sports Industry Association (WSIA) at the WSIA Summit in Squaw Creek, California. Centurion was recognized for their development of the Opti V Hull and QuickLaunch.
With 20 degrees of deadrise at the transom, as much as double the degree of V as any other towboat, Centurion’s Opti-V Hull eliminates the shock of rough water for an amazingly smooth ride. QuickLaunch gets your vessel on plane quickly so you never lose sight of the horizon. It’s no surprise that these two innovations were spotlighted as they’ve helped make Centurion Boats the fastest growing brand in the industry.
The WSIA Summit hosts more than 200 attendees and celebrates achievements with awards across the towed water sports industry on both the retail and manufacturer levels. The Watersports Innovation Awards recognizes industry leaders and their products that have push the towed water sports marketplace to new heights over the past year. Products from various facets of the industry were awarded for the year of 2019.
Centurion & Supreme President, Paul Singer, stated, “Our Product Design and Development team was excited to release the Opti-V Hull and QuickLanuch. For one, the Opti-V Hull has become an important next step in the evolution of the wake boat. The Opti-V design displaces more water creating natural surf waves while incorporating side-to-side balance for symmetrical wakeboarding wakes. QuickLaunch has resulted in take offs with no bow rise and quick time-to-plane. Both innovations help make Centurion Boats the world's best waves, wakes and ride,”
CEO of Correct Craft Bill Yeargin stated, “Innovation is important to our Correct Craft team as we prepare for the future and ensure our customers have the best experience available on the water. Last fall we were recognized as the industry’s most innovative company and earlier this month won multiple innovation awards at the Miami International Boat Show. I love our team and it is exciting to see them receive the recognition they deserve!”
